Its 2008 Im young and Hung! Fashion Film

Lol! World Wide Webbers that is exactly how I feel! Being in my young twenties, oh so new adult not a teenager years! Life is great and free. SO this file I am going to talk Fashion! Something I can afford to focus on because I am young and hung! lol
These are all my current obsessions!

High Rise Jeans!

So here i Kelis, Kim K. and Beyonce aka Sasha, in high waited attire. FYI Kim's look is a bit flat so please say no to the one color attire, zombie make-up and TOO LONG WIDE LEG PANTS!!
So my fashion obsessions plus some tips!
1: Do tuck in a shirt! Let it be fancy like Kelis or plain like Beyonce!
*HInt plain is so sexy! if you dress it up wit a purse or jewelry, you can change from day to night!

2: Let go of the high waisted skirts to clubs! That style has been done since 2004! We can move on now! but do wear it to the office with your conservative jacket cardigan and brooches!

3: Embrace WIDE LEG! I love the new wide leg styles they are so versatile! I wear with sneaker, heels or loafers! With a plain colored shirt you can brighten up the mood!

I was going to add more of my fashion obsessions but I will abstain till next time World Wide Webbers!

Peace

Warring Castes: Indian Vogue Contreversy

So, As I do daily I am searching through the internet and I stumble across this intersting article about Indian Vogue. Before I continue please view this pictures so you can make an informed opinion about them.

So the baby in the first picture has a fendi Bib and the second picture the man holds a Burberry umbrella and a young woman with an Etro handbag. When I first saw these pictures, I was amazed at the traditional garb the models were wearing and how well the designer item meshed. I feel it reflected a few sentiments that are floating through fashion. One senitment is the ethnic look. There is the American ethnic look: the hood chic; bamboo earrings three fingered rings, high waist, Reeboks, spandex, it goes on, its starting to mix so much, I forget what was old and what is new. Then there is the worldly ethnic look, African ethnic: fake kente patterns, bold colors with brown, wooden jewelry and beads. All this has been mixed in the traditional retro look out now.

BUT, properly capitalized there has been a hub bub of problems with this spread. It all comes to light after that frightening Vogue cover of Lebron and Bundchen .
Where the Fashion world has for some odd reason, maybe globalization decided to actually care about inclusion of the majority of the world, people of color. Where these looks of culture and ethnicity are being mainstreamed and modified so they do not have meaning or matter anymore. The style of "hood chic" comes from people in lower income areas developing their own fashion in reflection of not being included in larger society. The cultures that created kente cloth or Indian garb have a cultural meaning to their clothing. When designers create with these other cultures and brand it as their own, it is stealing. There are women in the "cottage industry" that will soon loose jobs because their clothing will be available at Walmart in India or China.

This is also globalization at its finest.Yet, artistically the spread is lovely, colors are so beautiful it reminds me I need to add Mustard to my wardrobe.

Posing for a Poet. . .but it was worth it!

SO, I think my friend sen me a link to a facebook fiend or something and there I was at Warsan Shire's facebook page. Honestly, her mere image is amazing! A gorgeous Somali woman wearing her Habib (Please correct me if I called it the wrong term) That presents beautiful quotes, phrases and thoghts. I had not read her poetry but her image was unforgettable.

So as I am procrastinating today, I went to her page and listen to her poetry. Her prose and rhythm reminds me of listen to Arabic verse, translated or not it is one of my favorite rhythms. So here World Wide Webber check out Warsan Shire, LOndon living Somali breathing. . .

So there is this one poem called Mothers ESOL by Warsan Shire, that I cannot FIND! Its on her myspace so I will give just that, enjoy!

Left Brain Right Brain sometimes middle brained

So, today as I joyfully drew a poster for one of my clubs, I realized I had missed the opportunity to explore the arts in College! So, to you world wide webbers let me explain myself to you. . .

I love art, creativity and expressing myself! As a little girl I drew pictures of people and gave them names addresses, likes dislikes, family. . .life! I daydreamed playing the piano as Beethoven and created stories for my little sister at night. The moment I had enough money to buy clothes they became a way to express myself. Although I am no avant garde dresser, I enjoy fashion and dressing nice as a way to express who I am. I adore all types of art and love immersing myself in ideas of artist!

So as I created that masterpiece of a club sign, I sighed, I should of explored Art and social justice as a mix. . .those are my true passions! I know with all the papers I struggle with, deadlines that dizzy me, I am happiest creating myself inf orms to share with others.

Below is the answer to a quiz I took on Right Brained Left Brained. . .of course I am predominately Right brian but interestingly enough, I personally enjoy the order of math (I was never good at it, or tried to be) and I love the mystery and discovery of science (same as math)! I think the real question is how do people take a life time and indulge in everything that is dear to them?

After my results are some links to some wonderful artist I love!!

Rant and Rave: The image of Ms. A. Keys

Now, I can tell you, Alicia Keys use to have the worst style, especially for an artist of her caliber;
lets journey back!

Most of the time her outfits were not fashion but hideous personal style of a performer. Sometimes her make up would not match her skin tone, too light or too dark, or just plain fugged up. It made me wonder where the hell were her people?

I think A. Keys was trying to display a unique New Yorkness to her sometimes, the braids, fitted, style that sometimes resemble hood style. This next video is classic A. Keys fugg ups of style: A woman's Worth

Alicia Keys - A Woman's Worth
Uploaded by mh176

I guess Clive Davis, woke up and made sure this lady got some people. Now all of a sudden, she got designer outfits, great make up, they sent her ass to the gym. . .but my rant and rave is her HAIR!!!!

One thing I loved about A. Keys is how she repped for the natural hair women! She seldom, straightened her hair and had bomb as braid styles.

If she was trying or not she was a role model for Natural hair woman and how we can be women and rock braids. I believe she sent a strong message now that to be beautiful, sexy and well kept you did not need to only wear the white European styled clothes but also their god awful straight hair.

My rave, is how typical her people are and MAYBE her, for conforming to these social codes. Ms. A Keys has beautiful style now but resembles a white woman more and more everyday (LOL, yeah she is half white, but her hair is not naturally straight)

Well, my life continues, the world turns and Ms. Keys now looks like this:

Perception, Perception, Past Perception

Last Night a Lil' Wayne song came on while driving: Miss My Dawgs
Listen Here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=FJpdZWLst-Y

This song always pulls me into illusive memories and bad nostalgia! Sometimes I can't even help but to tear up thinking of the friends, family and lovers I've lost to life and the evident change that accompanies it. Yet, I stay positive by thinking what I have gained in those experiences.Lately, I have been challenging the perception of my past. . .those bad times and heart breaks and beginning to perceive them as part of my positive life journey!

So my dear reader, I give you a challenge, to post or contemplate. . .think of a past experience that brings strong emotion and change it in your mind as positive force in your life, a force of progression (Does that make any sense)!

Here is a poem made a long time ago about past perception friends love and lost:

The way things are ending

I never knew things will end the way it is
Dear friend and love If I ever knew
Itll be like this for us
If I ever knew
we werent going to travel the world and live this love
If I ever knew money and success would come at this cost

If I ever knew my loves my friends

If I ever knew the friend ship we had would end the way it did
If I ever knew we werent gonna make it out together

If I eva knew maybe I would of cherish my timme even harder

Becasue this reality we are living, I know I cant face it
(and i think am living the easier deal)

The reality you are living, my love my friends
Is harder than the day I cant get ut of bed

I love you all and I wish we could travel the rainbows we dreamed of
The places we believed we see

Feel the love that we once had, or maybe still have

If I ever knew this is how things would of ended or

How reality was to begin. . .

To my lost ones, loved ones, friends, and to all
This is how its ending and I havent caught on yet

Dream? Purple? Love?. . .So who are you? "Im a dose of reality"

Imagine: You and I are laughing "jajajajajaja"
But pause, we look around and we see, we are performing on a studio stage of a sitcom
we take the time to step into the audience, because we are not performers, we are not part of a sitcom.

As we sit in the audience and laugh "lol"
We pause and realize this situational humor, only lightly based on reality, is oh so not amusing.
so we leave, through the TV, lights, tech-savy words and electricity.

We end up outside of the TV screen, on your couch. Books around us, TV on, art, breath, sounds of outside. . .life, real life that cannot be encompassed by 26, 48 or 108 minute intervals, only a lifetime!

Thats what and who I am, a person that will write about real life, a stumbler when I notice one, a commentary when I am aggravated or relieved, a poem of mine others, art of others, mini- biography of amazing people I know personally or not.

Welcome, to my world! My opinions and random thoughts! Things I am forecasting for this journey: tirades on reality, other peoples words, links, my awe of a new place I travel to.

Who am I? Dream Purple Love! Not satisfied? Stay Tuned!

Bless
